01

What is sport psychology?

Sport psychology involves applying psychological principles in sports settings, focusing not only on performance enhancement but also on athlete well-being. It helps individuals navigate career transitions, such as changing teams, recovering from injuries, or retiring. Whether you're facing performance challenges, looking to take your game to the next level, or seeking support for personal and athletic well-being, a sport psychologist can assist with managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Sport psychology benefits not just athletes, but also match officials, teams, sporting organisations, and even professionals in the business world.

02

What does a sport psychologist do?

A sport psychologist supports athletes in enhancing their performance and building resilience to cope with the pressures of their sport. Some athletes seek help to improve specific aspects of their game, while others may need assistance in addressing personal or performance-related challenges. Since each athlete is unique, I work collaboratively with you to identify areas for both personal and sporting growth, developing customised strategies to help achieve your goals.

03

How can sport psychology help me?

Sport psychology can support you in various aspects of both performance and wellbeing. In terms of sports performance, it can help boost motivation, align your actions with personal values, and manage common challenges such as anxiety, overthinking, and nerves. It also equips you to thrive in high-pressure situations, improve communication with key team members, and build self-esteem, confidence, and emotional resilience. Additionally, sport psychology can enhance your ability to focus, manage perfectionism, and regulate emotions. On the wellbeing side, it can assist with navigating career transitions, balancing sports with life’s other demands, and developing self-care strategies. Support is also available for managing professional and personal relationships, dealing with injuries and setbacks, and fostering personal growth and development.
